About Lauren

Lauren hails from England. After finishing her teaching degree she was a teacher in England for one year before moving to Beijing China and working in a British International School for six years. Lauren has extensive experience with learners with English as a second language as the majority of the children in her class spoke a variety of languages other than English.

Lauren believes learning should be fun for children, and so she invests her time in learning children's strengths and struggles, whilst also learning about their interests. This way, children find learning fun and engaging as it is in something they find interesting, whether that be dragons, princesses, superheroes, dinosaurs, anything! She will do her absolute best to use their interests to guide the learning so they make incredible progress and stayed engaged.

Tutoring Services

Early English Learners (3-6):

Fun, interactive lessons

  • Songs, games and conversation

  • Phonics and letter recognition practice

  • Learning to read using books you find interesting

  • Taking turns to read a page in a book so you can practice your reading skills and I can model how to read with expression and correctly read aloud words

  • Letter formation practice

Elementary Learners (6-11):

  • Phonics re-caps

  • Reading practice and reading comprehension

  • Spelling, punctuation and grammar skills

  • Writing skills

  • Conversation skills, English for real-life

  • As I am a qualified teacher, I am also very experienced in teaching mathematics from age 3-11

English for young adults and beyond (12+)

These lessons will be tailored to you, your needs and your interests, some examples of learning are:

  • Conversation Practice

  • Spelling, Punctuation and Grammar

  • Reading comprehension

  • Writing skills

  • English language learning for specific topics e.g. work, travel, business meetings, technical jargon

Conversational Skills for Adults:

Not feeling confident in speaking English? I have experience teaching adults who want to improve their speaking and listening skills in English for their personal development and goals, tailoring every lesson to your interests and needs. In my conversational skills lessons you will be doing listening activities, grammar games and learning English idioms/common expressions. We will have conversations and discussions surrounding many different topics, tailored to your level and interests.

Business English for Adults:

Looking to excel in your small talk skills or how to manage a meeting in English? Look no further. I have sessions around Business English to help you during interviews, recruitment or meeting with the head of the company.
