About Me

Mi Vida.

My story is one of faith, grace and determination. One that I would not change and one that you will get to know as we work together through time.

I am a 10+years international educator, cross-country and track & field coach. I am very proud of my Latinx roots and the very difficult journey that brought me to where and who I am now. I believe in the power of having a good community in life such as family, friends, teachers and quality mentors. If I didn’t have my village to believe in me when I was in high school I am not sure where I would be. With the passing of my single father in my junior track season in high school; hard work and unrelenting support from my community helped me get a full athletic scholarship to Texas Tech University. However, we know that many students and athletes around the world may not have the privilege of having a trusted adult and community that could potentially change the trajectory of their life.

Upon graduation, I taught and coached in Houston, with the help and guidance from my high school coach, before I decided to pursue my dreams of teaching abroad. After four years of teaching and coaching in Morocco, I moved to England with my husband where we spent three years and now we are currently teaching in Vietnam! I am looking forward to learning more about the history and culture of Vietnam, whilst traveling SE Asia. Come join the journey!

My Mission

To be able to teach and mentor a population of students that have historically been overlooked and underrepresented and need my help and guidance in mentorship, athletics or academic classes.

I am here to serve students, who have gone through COVID-19 and a global awakening of racial issues that continue to impact our students of color and our lower socio-economic students. Prior to the pandemic and as an experienced teacher, I have seen the variability and inconsistencies of mental health and social-emotional learning as well as the overwhelming Eurocentric lens that Humanities has been taught in schools. My goal is teach and guide students about the intersections and nuances of our world and for them to learn about themselves and the world around them in the process.

As a teacher of Psychology, I interweave psychological concepts in all of my lessons because it is in everything that we do as humans.

I want each student to leave their sessions with a better understanding of the content and themselves. Most of my students and athletes will tell you that I have high expectations for them but I do it with love and, most importantly, because they deserve it.

“…One silver lining of this global crisis may be that schools and policymakers can no longer ignore students’ mental health, some experts say. ‘The pandemic is definitely going to be a game changer’ says Weissberg. ‘The question now is, what kind of game are we going to change it to?’”
